Prior to establishing this legal practice, Riaz Khan had worked for a reputable law firm in Sheffield where he had won many cases for the local Yemeni, Somali, Iraqi, Iranian and Pakistani communities.
The above reputation gave Riaz Khan the ambition to set up his own legal practice which materialised on 24th april 2003. The concept behind the establishment of this practice was to provide expert Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Law advice and representations through a team of specialist Lawyers with considerable skill and knowledge in this complex area of law. The firm originally started off as a Legal Aid firm and was recognised by the Legal Services Commission as a category 1 law firm. However, over the years the firm took the decision to cease doing legal aid work for economic reasons. The practice now operates on private fee basis only.
Riaz Khan & Co. is proud to state that it is one of the leading law firms in the United Kingdom in the field of Immigration, Nationality and Human Rights Law in that it has achieved a considerable success rate in representing clients at the Home Office and in the Immigration Courts. It has successfully represented a range of clients from ordinary to high profile over the last 3 years of its operation. Some high profile cases attracted media attention and coverage by the local media including Yorkshire Television.
Riaz Khan & Co. has just recently expanded to provide expert advice and assistance in other areas of law such as Personal Injury and Commercial and Residential Conveyancing. We are currently promoting these new areas of law to create awareness amongst potential clients who may benefit from our specialist services.
The aim of Riaz Khan & Co. Solicitors over the next few years is to become one of the major law firms in the North of England and to expand further into other areas of law.
At Riaz Khan & Co we are also commited to helping our community. Riaz Khan & Co have for the second year running sponsored the Earl Marshall Cricket Club in Sheffield. Riaz Khan & Co have sponsored both the senior and junior coachin projects which develops cricketers from the age of 14 to 19. This venture is also sponsored by the governments Sportsmatch scheme.
